Black and White Velvet Cushion – XI’AN III
Annyta Lolyta has hand-painted the lighter sections and hand-printed the mysterious Chinese face. Although known for her ability to combine and blend colors, here we see her artistic flair working with NO color as in Ink-Me and Black & White II.
But the “no-color” effect is just as dynamic as Annyta’s elaborately colorful COCO or SMALL but SPECIAL or ARDASHIR, only with her BLACK AND WHITE VELVET CUSHION SERIES she isn’t using color. Now that’s an artistic feat. That’s Annyta. That’s Velvet Matters.
Take a look at all of Annyta’s hand-printed, hand-stamped, hand-painted or hand-embossed velvet cushions HERE.
All Velvet Matters products are handmade in the Netherlands by Annyta. Since 1995, she has been making exclusive, hand-printed scarves and other fashion accessories. The Velvet Matters webshop now brings Annyta’s specialized velvet accessories to the world, including her ETSY hand-painted cushions. Annyta’s speciality is printing/stamping/painting/embossing on velvet, a craft that she learned in England two decades ago, and has developed and refined ever since. She has a distinct style, combining different fabrics with a wonderful sense of colour and form.
The material Annyta uses in all of her hand-painted cushions is “changeant” or shot silk velvet. It is known for its softness and durability, but it also gives off a two-tone effect. So, the look and feel of each color is further intensified by the two-tone effects playing as it reflects the light. Through a process that she developed as an artist, Annyta is able to create new shades and colors with this luxuriously soft and durable material.
Our velvet is made of 82% viscose/18% silk.
Our felt is 100% wool.
NOTE #1: Our cushions are filled with down feathers. If you want to buy just the cushion cover with no fill or substitute another type of fill, please contact us.
Note #2: Velvet Matters products become more alive and beautiful with age. But please protect them. Even though we use the highest high quality changeant or shot-silk velvet, prolonged exposure to bright sunlight might cause some fading or discolouring. For maintenance tips see the FAQ.
Note #3: Just like dating-site photographs, our Velvet Matters cushion colours might look just a little different in reality. But don’t worry, unlike dating sites, our velvet cushions are always even more beautiful in real life – it’s just that maybe, once in a while, they might look a little different from the web photos.
